Zegfrovy (Sunvozertinib) from Dizal: US FDA OKs First-of-Its-Kind Lung Cancer Pill (July 2025)

Image
Eight years after it was established partly by AstraZeneca, Dizal Pharmaceuticals has gained its first FDA approval , winning an accelerated nod for Zegfrovy (sunvozertinib) to become the only U.S.-endorsed oral treatment for those with a rare type of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Patients in the U.S. with EGFR exon 20 insertion mutations whose cancer has progressed after platinum-based chemotherapy are now eligible for Zegfrovy. The blessing comes 16 months after the FDA signed off on Johnson & Johnson’s infused Rybrevant in combination with chemotherapy as a first-line treatment in the indication. While Rybrevant is an EGFR-MET bispecific antibody, Zegfrovy is a first-in-class selective EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI). “(Zegfrovy) offers a more effective treatment option with enhanced safety and ease of administration for NSCLC patients with EGFR exon 20 insertions,” Dizal CEO Xiaolin Zhang, Ph.D., said in a release. While Zhang's comment suggests Zegfrovy's ...

Study Links Fiber Consumption to Epigenetic Changes with Anticancer Effects

Image
Millions of adults in the U.S. fail to meet their daily dietary fiber requirements, a fact that often goes unnoticed until serious health issues emerge. According to a study published in Nature Metabolism by scientists investigating gene activity, certain molecules from fiber appear to latch onto specific regions in your DNA (1). This means you get more than digestive support: your body's own genetic processes are influenced by the fiber on your plate. You might not know that grains, vegetables and fruits containing this carbohydrate help maintain everything from heart function to cellular repair. Research published in Nutrients journal points to an even stronger connection between fiber intake and reduced cancer rates, underscoring how important it is to get enough of this unassuming nutrient. (2) Some people believe fiber only matters for regularity, but these carbohydrates are also tied to hormone regulation, immune support and overall metabolic stability.3 You deserve to see ...

EV-302: Long-term subgroup analysis from the phase 3 global study of enfortumab vedotin in combination with pembrolizumab (EV+P) vs chemotherapy (chemo) in previously untreated locally advanced or metastatic urothelial carcinoma (la/mUC).

Image
Abstract 4571 Background:  EV-302/KEYNOTE-A39 (NCT04223856) demonstrated superior efficacy of first-line (1L) EV+P vs chemo and established EV+P as the standard of care (SOC). EV+P is included in global treatment guidelines for patients (pts) with untreated la/mUC. After ≈2.5 years of median follow-up, the benefit of EV+P was sustained; median OS was maintained for > 2.5 years. We present long-term efficacy and safety analyses in the following prespecified subgroups: primary disease site of origin (upper and lower tracts), lymph node (LN)–only disease, and presence of liver metastases (mets) (present and absent).  Methods:  Pts with previously untreated la/mUC were randomized 1:1 to receive EV (1.25 mg/kg; Days 1 and 8; IV) and P (200 mg; Day 1; IV) or chemo (gemcitabine with cisplatin or carboplatin) every 3 wk. Primary endpoints were progression-free survival (PFS) by blinded independent central review (BICR) and overall survival (OS). A genAI tool (01/09/25; Pfizer;...

Glenn Sabin’s Remarkable Journey: Overcoming “Incurable” Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia

Image
In 1991, Glenn Sabin was a healthy, energetic 28-year-old newlywed who felt invincible—until routine blood tests revealed a devastating diagnosis: chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). Told by doctors that his disease was fatal and incurable, Sabin refused to accept this fate. Instead, he embarked on a pioneering journey of self-advocacy, research, and integrative care that ultimately led to a near-miraculous remission. From Diagnosis to Determination Despite feeling strong and active, Sabin’s diagnosis came as a shock. His spleen was dangerously enlarged, packed with leukemic cells, and doctors recommended surgery followed by a risky bone marrow transplant. Faced with a 20% mortality risk from the transplant itself, Sabin chose a different path—one that combined conventional medicine with a personalized regimen of diet, exercise, supplements, and mind-body practices. The Power of an “N of 1” Approach Working closely with his doctors, Sabin became his own research subject—an “n of 1” tri...

Innovations and Integrative Approaches in Cancer Prevention, Treatment, and Recovery (2025)

Image
Introduction Cancer remains one of the most complex and challenging diseases of our time. Yet, a new wave of experts is reshaping the landscape by merging conventional medicine with functional, nutritional, and mind-body approaches.  Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) have long been considered the gold standard for evaluating cancer therapies, but their practicality and effectiveness in oncology face significant challenges due to the complex nature of cancer. Cancer is a highly heterogeneous and evolving disease, often involving multiple molecular pathways and diverse patient populations, which makes targeting just one aspect of the disease with a single drug insufficient for sustainable treatment outcomes. This article explores the latest insights from leading voices in cancer research, integrative medicine, nutrition, and holistic healing.
