Glenn Sabin’s Remarkable Journey: Overcoming “Incurable” Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia

In 1991, Glenn Sabin was a healthy, energetic 28-year-old newlywed who felt invincible—until routine blood tests revealed a devastating diagnosis: chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). Told by doctors that his disease was fatal and incurable, Sabin refused to accept this fate. Instead, he embarked on a pioneering journey of self-advocacy, research, and integrative care that ultimately led to a near-miraculous remission.

Despite feeling strong and active, Sabin’s diagnosis came as a shock. His spleen was dangerously enlarged, packed with leukemic cells, and doctors recommended surgery followed by a risky bone marrow transplant. Faced with a 20% mortality risk from the transplant itself, Sabin chose a different path—one that combined conventional medicine with a personalized regimen of diet, exercise, supplements, and mind-body practices.

Working closely with his doctors, Sabin became his own research subject—an “n of 1” trial—carefully tracking his health and adjusting his lifestyle. Over years of dedication, he witnessed steady improvements: normalized blood counts, disappearance of symptoms, and eventually, no detectable leukemic cells in his blood.

Sabin’s regimen included a nutrient-rich whole-food diet, daily exercise, and targeted supplements such as vitamin C, carotenoids, fermented mushroom extracts, and green tea alkaloids (EGCG). While his doctors initially doubted lifestyle changes could impact leukemia, they were ultimately amazed by his progress.

Today, Sabin remains in clinical remission, with no signs of leukemia in his bone marrow. He urges patients not to abandon conventional treatments but to become informed advocates who collaborate with healthcare providers to develop personalized care plans. Sabin also calls on the medical community to rigorously study integrative approaches that combine diet, exercise, supplements, and stress reduction with standard cancer therapies.

  • No single treatment is a miracle cure: Fighting cancer requires a comprehensive approach.

  • : Nutrition, exercise, and stress management can support healing.

  • : Knowledge and collaboration with your medical team can improve outcomes.

  • : Integrative therapies deserve more scientific attention.
